Happy new Year!

From my studio to you, i hope you have a very happy and healthy 2010! May all of your wishes come true.
I’m battling a very terrible cold right now, so i’m going to take some time today and tomorrow to rest up so i’m ready for 2010 in full force. But before i sign off for the week, i want to leave you with some great words. A little inspiration for the new year:
There are always plenty of possibilities, with new ones being born every moment. On a regular basis, pick a new possibility and explore it fully. Turn down a road you’ve never traveled before, and find out what’s there. Be curious, and let your curiosity lead you in the direction of new discoveries.
Inject some fresh, new experiences into your life. Challenge yourself and add richness to your life by stepping outside your regular routine.
Surprise your senses with things you’ve never experienced before. Wake up your spirit by uncovering previously hidden treasures in your world.
Add to life’s list of joys. Give new depth and richness to your perspective.
The good things in your life are yours now because there was a time when you chose to find them. Explore some new possibilities, and there is much new value you can find. – Ralph Marston
New month, new desktop

A new year brings new goodies. New resolutions, new skills. New organization and new clothes. This new year, a new decade! Funny enough, as you actually say the words…”two thousand and ten”, in a world of acronyms, quick talk and text i find it to be quite a mouthful. So i have been saying the new year as “twenty-ten”. I mean, it makes sense right? We use LOL, OMG, WTH, C-U Soon, and so on… so why not just shorten it to twenty-ten?
The other night, Christopher and i were watching the evening news and there was actually a poll on Facebook and Twitter about how people would say this mouthful of a year. It was pretty close. I am still sticking with “twenty-ten”. (Just sounds sassier).

So for the new month and new year, i played off of how i intend to say the year and added it to a quick calendar for your desktop. Get yours here.
new year, new designs!

Can someone seriously pinch me? Go on… do it – because let me just tell you, i still can’t believe that 2009 is coming up on its last few days. I mean.. in just a few short days, we will start a new decade! A new decade means so much. Some things i can share now, some i can’t. So you will just have to check back for some goodies.
It really blows my mind how much has changed this past year not only in my personal life, but my professional life as well. It is so very exciting and because i can barely sleep at night as i put together new designs, i thought i would share!

These little animals were inspired by the board game Forest Friends. I had mentioned it back when i introduced my holiday cards. (yes… that game that i supposedly cheated playing. Hey, cut me some slack, i think i was like 6). I own a vintage copy that my aunt gave me, so when the little ones come to visit i pull it out of the closet. You will notice that Ellie the bird makes an appearance in this suite too, along with some other fluttery friends. These will be letterpressed as well for all the paper phanatics out there!
I look forward to sharing all of my new designs with you as we enter a new decade!
Have a wonderful holiday!

I hope that each and every one of you has a wonderful holiday. Whether you are traveling, staying home, with lots and lots of family and friends or a mellow celebration, may it be a time to relax, enjoy and reflect. We are hosting Christmas Eve and traveling for Christmas Day. I look forward to this time with my family each year. While i am admittedly sad that we still don’t have a little one to pack up and bring along, my hopes are for next year now! We have hit the 3 month wait mark and it has flown by. I hope the remainder of our wait goes this fast.
Thank you all for following along and for all of your comments, thoughts and positive vibes. I truly appreciate all of it!
Merry Christmas and i’ll see you all next week!

the card swap continues

Last week i started to show some designs that i received from the Brooklyn Bride holiday card swap. I was hesitant to post photos of my own design that i sent out because i didn’t want the girls involved to see their card before they received it. I’m pretty sure (OK… so 99.9% sure) they have received them now, so i wanted to share. First though, i got another card in the mail on Saturday and wanted to show that one too. The dimensional star is my favorite part and i can’t quite figure out how it was done! But i love it and getting these cards is so much better than bills! It is like a treat each time i visit my mailbox.

This is the card i sent out. I custom designed the envelope and size. I cut the paper from a roll of craft wrap and lined with a festive paper! The inner envelope was made from a really cool wood textured paper from GMUND. After printing on heavy vellum, i heat embossed the design and added a red pearl for Rudolph’s nose.

This was the first time i participated in this exchange and it was fun. It is great because i’m like my own client and i can do whatever i want. Now granted, i did get in a bit over my head with the sewing machine. I lost the battle with it and so only one person got the inner envelope, but i still hope they were enjoyed regardless. I’m looking forward to next years!
Yowzers! What a fun-filled week! I’m so happy though, even though it was busy the week went as slow as molasses. Which is so great, because i feel like i got to enjoy it rather than having it zip right by. (Although i do miss Christopher this week it is almost like we pass in the wind). At least we have the weekend though.
* I started running again this week after a mini break after the NYC race. It felt good to get back into it.
* Had a delish lunch at Wheatfields with my friend Deborah. First off, if you live in the area you must try it. Secondly, watch out for this Deborah lady… she is going to rock the world shortly! An amazing woman with some energy that surpasses mine by 200%! She has some great things going on in her life right now. One day, you will see me refer back to this post… i promise that. Keeps your eyes out for a logo design i will be working on for her.
* The Pantone Color of the year was announced as a most stunning shade of turquoise. I’ve got my sketchbook ready for the new year and a new bride ready to use it! Fabulous with shades of orange, grays and black. Read about it here.
* Friday finds include a new wedding blog i found -100 Layer Cake. Still need a few stocking stuffers? There is time if you order today! Oh Joy has some fun notebooks. Check them out. { hint, hint Santa }! Or, Jess L.C Jewelry is so darn fun and fabulous. If you get your order in, i guarantee the person you are giving it to won’t be disappointed.
Enjoy your weekend everyone. Here’s to finishing up last minute shopping, wrapping, baking and get some relaxation in there too!
holiday tags

Oh boy! All of a sudden, Christmas crept up on me like my cat stalking his toys. I made a to-do list over coffee this morning and i think i need to call in the troops for the amount of stuff i have yet to do. One of which is to finish wrapping and tagging. All of the gifts i have wrapped have post it notes designating who they go to- because yes, what is a gift without a pretty tag? I mean, it is like cake without icing!

So i quickly whipped these up and i’m going to share with you.. all the “last minute Lucy’s” out there! A few different styles, and what would a gift be without Ellie the Christmas bird? Enjoy and get yours here.
