Studio update: #1

Hi all!
So, let’s pretend today is Monday instead of Tuesday, simply for the sake of gaining one more day organizing before the big move this weekend. OK?
We spent the weekend painting and moving some goodies, shopping for furniture and putting some pieces together. Slowly {but surely} the space is starting to look and feel real! Each day this week i’m going to try and post some photos of the progress. The plan is to move the furniture and equipment this weekend so that no work is interrupted. Here are the very bare before photos, with the banner in the window!
The walls are being painted, the light fixtures changed, and lots and lots of decor and furniture will make this space so fun to work and get creative each day! I can’t wait!

Big, exciting news!

So for those that have been following, I keep talking about “big, exciting news” that will be announced soon. Well, the day has come! I’m so happy to announce that The Pink Orange has grown and is now in it’s first paper boutique! Remember the story I told you how I used to spend my allowance at the local Hallmark store after ballet class on Friday nights? How I told my mother I could do that? Well, I have!
I would proudly like to introduce to you all, Paperdolls of Saratoga! I have to say, that I am really excited that my first retail location for my product is local to me. It feels like an artistic mash-up! I know that everyone that reads along isn’t local, and i have great news for you too, but for those that are and either might not know about Paperdolls, or do and just haven’t had the chance to stop in, you should! You are missing out on some of the best paper treats and gifts around!
A little bit about the store from Sarah Keefe, one of the owners:
In this crazy world of instant and easy communication, PaperDolls of Saratoga focuses instead on the simple gestures of life: the pleasure one gets from receiving a beautiful invitation, the joy on one’s face when opening the perfect gift, the satisfaction of creating something wonderful from nothing. Whether you are looking to create a keepsake or find the perfect box of stationery, PaperDolls of Saratoga is your source for fine papers, invitations, announcements, ribbon, and unique gifts. We invite you into PaperDolls of Saratoga to rediscover life’s simple gestures.
Sarah, Cora and myself the day their order was dropped off!

Definitely if you are in the area, stop in and say hello to Sarah and Cora, and of course take a peek at all the wonderful goodies!

OK… so now onto the other fun news. The Pink Orange shopping section has changed! Check it out! More letterpress cards added with more on the way. Quick, easy navigation with all the goodies categorized. I hope it makes it fun and easy to find the perfect card for that special someone. Now… go ahead, get shopping!

Boy, time flies when you are having fun! I feel like I was just posting my weekly wrap-up yesterday. I guess that is a good thing. I also realized that we have been in the official adoption “wait” for 15 weeks and that too, has flown by. It hasn’t come without my moments but being busy helps. I am trying to finish up some nursery details so I can share with you too.
* This week’s Designer File featured EmersonMade, an accessory company that I am in absolute love with.
* My Fonts listed their top 2009 fonts and I highlighted my favorites.
* On Tuesday, I decided to give a sneak peek of new card illustrations and then I couldn’t hold back my excitement, so I posted them yesterday. Thanks everyone for your feedback, I enjoy reading the comments.
* I got together this week with some of the industry’s finest in the area. Katie O’ Weddings and Events, JP Elario Photography, Clark + Walker Studio and Fleurtacious. It was nice to just chill and talk “shop”.
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend, relax if you can and smile a lot!
Hello World!

Welcome to The Pink Orange blog site! I’m so excited to finally share this with you! It has been a work in progress and I’m so giddy about it. I have so many goodies to share with all of you, I can hardly wait!
I first want to thank Brooke, from Oh.Brooke. She helped bring my vision to life over the past few months. She was terrific to work with and I can’t say enough great things about her.
Some might ask…”why a blog?” The answer is really quite simple. I have been blogging for almost 2 years in my personal life. It started as an online journal- a way to get thoughts, ideas and even frustrations out as my husband and I were trying to start a family. I started to add my design thoughts, projects and inspirations into it- and soon realized that not only did I “meet” people along the way who shared a similar life journey, I had inspired some too.
My work journey is in some way similar. I love the wedding industry and all things paper. (In fact, I think I just might hoard more paper than I do shoes and bags)! Things have evolved so much with my business that I have found a wonderful balance of wedding, baby and social related printed pieces and I couldn’t be happier.
I thoroughly enjoy each client I work with, other vendors involved and seeing the ultimate vision finally come to life. I become friends with my clients along the way since we work together for so long. Once the wedding or event is over, I genuinely miss them. So I thought what better way to keep in touch and offer more for my friends and followers than turning what I love to do on a daily basis into a journal as well. Aside from having a love of weddings and creating all the stationery that goes along with it, I have a love of all things design. Whether an awesome typeface, a well-composed room or a fabulous piece of clothing, I realize how much I am inspired by everything around me. So my goal is to inspire my readers and stay in touch – to give everyone a reason to come back and see what is up in my little piece of the world! You will see everything from bridal inspiration boards and real weddings, to everyday stationery, my personal travels, perhaps a peek at our nursery and even my studio sidekick Clemens.
I want you all to know, that I am a just a regular girl, who nearly hyperventilates over extravagant paper. I usually work in my slippers, while be-bopping to a great mixture of music in iTunes. I enjoy a good cup of coffee in my favorite mug, and cheese sandwiches for lunch with cucumbers on the side. I love emails in my inbox and comments on my blog. (hint, hint). In my personal life, I have a wonderful family and some of the best friends a girl can ask for. My adorable husband and I are starting a family through domestic adoption and we can’t be more excited. I hope in sharing my life, love of design and beautiful images that I can touch someone’s life along the way.
Rebecca
