Handmade Plantable Paper
by Greenfield Paper Company

With the ongoing awareness of green products, The Pink Orange has been on the lookout for plantable paper. Let´s face it, we all want gorgeous wedding invitations, baby announcements or everyday cards, but wouldn´t they be even more gorgeous if each job was designed on recycled paper? The Pink Orange has put a lot of effort into making sure that all the paper that is used on custom jobs is eco-friendly paper. Now, we have found something to even top that! Plantable paper! How much better can you get than planting your invitation?

This past year alone, a handful of brides have asked us about this paper for their custom designs and so the search began. At the National Stationary Show last week, we found a company that makes their own plantable paper. Each sheet is created crafted by hand and comes in a beautiful array of colors that work well letterpressed, engraved or simple offset printing.

THE PINK ORANGE GOES GREEN

One of the biggest changes is our commitment to saving the earth. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the world population is expanding at a mind-boggling rate. The world reached 1 billion people in 1800; 2 billion by 1922; and over 6 billion by 2000. It is estimated that the population will swell to over 9 billion by 2050. That means that if the world’s natural resources were evenly distributed, people in 2050 will only have 25% of the resources per capita that people in 1950 had.

One way that The Pink Orange is playing a role in helping to Go Green is to use whenever possible the new recycled papers offered by Neenah Paper. Neenah Paper (NYSE:NP), one of the country´s leading premium paper manufacturers, has purchased over 10 million kilowatt hours (kWh) of renewable energy, making it the largest purchaser of green power in the entire state of Wisconsin. This The fast-growing recycled brand, ENVIRONMENT® Papers, and two finishes of the EAMES™ Paper Collection (Painting and Furniture finishes) will be made entirely with renewable energy.
