the crane Chandelier
The Wedding Co. is creating a huge chandelier of cranes from engaged couples from throughout the world! The goal is to collect 10,000 of these peaceful tokens of love by January 2011 when The Wedding Co. will celebrate its 10th anniversary. The final creation will be a visual representation of a worldwide community of engaged and newly married couples – a community that already shares so many invisible ties. Each crane will represent one couple’s leap of love, commitment and patience. I also love that for each crane received, $.50 will be donated to cancer research.

…and the invitation makes an appearance
For the Clark + Walker studio launch. As i promised below, i wanted to share. Here is it! I designed it using Crane paper and because the party was pulled together so quickly, i opted to use a fun mailing label rather then sending the envelopes to press. It worked out great and allowed me to add a fun tag line to the label as well.
Enjoy!
Now i just have to get a photo of the amazing custom bracelet that was made for me by my friend Jess over at Jess LC.
Lets talk letterpress
Recently, i had the opportunity to visit my alma mater (The College of Saint Rose) and talk to the junior graphic design print and production class about the art of letterpress. I was so honored to be asked to speak and show my portfolio. It was even more fun to be back in the studios and see the old G4′s upgraded to sweet iMacs and a huge orange wall! (Obviously, i am a fan of that one).
The fun part about the talk was the history of the art and how letterpress has become such a “must have” with stationery designers, especially in the wedding industry. Technology has lifted the print process to soar and it really is truly amazing at what can be done with paper and lettepress. Interestingly, letterpress printing wasn’t a huge part of the curriculum when i attended St. Rose, but i think it should be. It is a beautiful way to show off design, texture, paper and color.
I hope the class enjoyed having me as much as i enjoyed speaking.
Me with adjunct professor Christy Ann Coppola from Coppola Design who invited me to speak.
Clark + Walker studio launch
Just incase you aren’t familiar, you must hurry up and check out the Clark + Walker studio website. A-MA-ZING! Such a treat for your eyes, and let me just say, that so is their new studio. I am thinking of packing up shop and just showing up on their doorstep with my iMac and paper in tow. I wonder if they would go for it?
On Thursday night, they celebrated the official opening of their new studio and it was such fun. Not only did i have the opportunity to sponsor it, i met some great people in the industry, enjoyed a few glasses of wine and a yummy spread of treats. So Luke is going to shoot the invitation that i designed for the event, but i wanted to share some photos in the meantime, and i’ll add the invitation later, so be sure to check back.

So a great night with great friends and good times. Up next? Katie’s launch party tomorrow evening!
This week sure was hectic, fun and invigorating! I was training for my race and ran two good 5 mile days and also added some small dumbbells into the routine. I am quite positive i looked like a toolbox, but that is OK. My goal is to have arms like Wonder Woman. OK, not quite, but still strong arms.
Aside from the training, here is a quick recap of the week and goodies to look forward to!
* I started some groovy designs for a bride getting married at the Bonnet Island Estate. Admittedly, i drooled when i was looking at the photos of this place. Can i move in?
* Received some fun new product from my printer that i packaged and i’m prepping to photograph! They will be available for sale next week.
* I also received a fabulous new bracelet from Jessica at Jess LC in the mail. (boy, UPS was on triple duty at my office this week), thanks again Jess!
* In case you missed it, i gave a Design Your Life interview on Makeunder My Life blog yesterday. You can view it here.
* Friday finds include this fun coffee stencil from How About Orange, and how amazing are these skirts from Darling Dexter?
* I attended a launch party for the Clark + Walker new studio opening. It was a great party and i was so excited to meet Cyd, mind behind The Sweetest Occasion.
Up for next week? Another launch party for a great friend of mine,Katie O Weddings and Events, working on my new real wedding posts which will be really cool to see how the inspiration started and the final product, some cool product from a designer i recently met and my husband and i are delivering Thanksgiving dinners for Equinox!
Have a great weekend everyone!
Rebecca
