New card designs
Good morning!
I wanted to share with you two new card designs. Part of “The Yearly’s” collection, I designed these anniversary cards. One was inspired by one of my favorite brides, Alexis. You might remember her and her bird motif from this real wedding feature. Well I just loved the blue birds so much, I carried the idea over for an anniversary card!
card reveal #2 (the forgotten bird)
Yesterday after I revealed the Ellie bird series, I met my friend Deborah for a yummy lunch. (I swear I could write an entire post on how delicious our lunch was….seriously). Anyway, we got talking and I realized how I had totally forgotten to present to you the birthday Ellie! So here she is:
I have to give credit to my niece though. She specially requested Ellie birthday bird with a striped hat on. So my little love, if mom is reading this to you, thank you for the idea.
Her birthday was a couple of weeks before she came to stay with me. I mailed her gift to her so she didn’t have to wait until she came. I also printed out the Ellie bird and made her a card to go along with the gift. She then called me to Thank me when she received it and here was the conversation:
Ellie: Hi Aunta Rebecca (yes, she adds the ‘A’, how cute is that)?
Me: Hi Ellie
Ellie: Thank you so much for my gift and card. I love it. I think the bird should have a birthday hat on!
Me: With polka dots?
Ellie: No stripes Aunta Rebecca.
Me: OK! Sounds great.
And that is the simple, but adorable story of how my 7 year old niece gave me her creative direction.
card reveal #2
Good morning and Happy Monday friends!
I have been so excited and anxious to share more card designs with you. It is funny how some things happen with design and timing during the year. When i designed the following cards, it was right before the Christmas season. So Ellie the bird was introduced first- as Santa Claus.

However, Ellie bird really started as a simple bird chirping away.

Now… Ellie is ready to deliver Easter treats and all set for Halloween as a scary ghost!

These will all be letterpressed with oh-so pretty colors as shown and sold in sets or single cards, so check back soon for information.
Last weekend when my niece Ellie was visiting, I showed her the designs and she screeched with excitement. It really was so cute, and I think she approved.

Yesterday i had lunch with my friend Deborah. (You might remember me talking about her back on 12/18 and how she is going to do some great, great things)? Well i have been working on her logo and we met yesterday to start the review. It looks so good and i can’t wait to share. But.. not until it gets some color and until Deborah says i can!
Anyway… we had lunch at the most adorable little spot. The Jonesville Store. We got talking about the cards that i had posted a sneak peek of on Tuesday and Deborah was giving me her guesses. Well, i was going to wait, but she got me way to excited and i decided to share. So here are the answers. A vase of flowers, an elephant pull toy and a glass of bubbly! Coming to a store near you this year! :: keeping fingers crossed ::
sneak peek
For your viewing pleasure, here are some tidbits of some new card designs! It was a very productive weekend in the studio. I’m so excited i just want to squeal about them. I can’t wait for them to be produced!
Can you guess what they are?
new year, new designs!
Can someone seriously pinch me? Go on… do it – because let me just tell you, i still can’t believe that 2009 is coming up on its last few days. I mean.. in just a few short days, we will start a new decade! A new decade means so much. Some things i can share now, some i can’t. So you will just have to check back for some goodies.
It really blows my mind how much has changed this past year not only in my personal life, but my professional life as well. It is so very exciting and because i can barely sleep at night as i put together new designs, i thought i would share!

These little animals were inspired by the board game Forest Friends. I had mentioned it back when i introduced my holiday cards. (yes… that game that i supposedly cheated playing. Hey, cut me some slack, i think i was like 6). I own a vintage copy that my aunt gave me, so when the little ones come to visit i pull it out of the closet. You will notice that Ellie the bird makes an appearance in this suite too, along with some other fluttery friends. These will be letterpressed as well for all the paper phanatics out there!
I look forward to sharing all of my new designs with you as we enter a new decade!
Introducing… Slip-its!
I am so excited to share with you my latest design. These are mini notecards that you can leave for that someone special in your life. I mean really, who wouldn’t want one? I know i would. Much better than getting a bill or piece of junk mail!

The inspiration for these came from the time i was a little girl, right up until now. I can remember my mother slipping a note into my lunchbox, under my pillow or in my backpack. I had just always carried this on in my life, and love not only sending notes and cards in the mail, but i’ll slip a note in Christopher’s glovebox, on his dashboard for when he gets in his car in the morning.
So what better way to share my love of letterpress and notes than these Slip-its! Slip them anywhere you wish. They are small in size, 3.75″ x 2″ and come with a collection of colorful envelopes to slip them in. Purchase here.
To kick off this new collection, I will be giving away a set of Slip-its. To enter, blog or tweet about the contest and add a comment here about the most creative way that you have sent or left a note for someone in your life! I love to read the comments. Winner will be selected on December 7. Good luck!
I’m going to make some too!
“I’m going to make those too!”
Those were the words to used to say to my mother whenever we would visit the local Hallmark store growing up.
Just incase you haven’t checked out my shop page, you should! I’m thrilled to share 2 new designs for letterpress holiday cards this year. Keep checking back for new cards, as I’ll add them on slowly. Designing cards has always been a dream of mine. I can clearly remember being 5 years old and taking dance lessons on Friday afternoons. Afterwards, my mother used to take my two sisters and me to spend our allowance. Well, my choice was to go to the local Hallmark store to spend mine. I just had to have Hello Kitty stickers and My Melody notepads and cards. I remember thinking to myself how fun if I could “make those!” Well now I have!

The bird is named after my niece Ellie. She is a nature phanatic and knows the names of so many birds. The Ellie card will be a part of an illustrated line i am working on that is also inspiration from my childhood. Does anyone remember the board game ‘Forest Friends’? I used to play (and try to cheat sometimes so i am told), and i now have a vintage copy. (Did i just say that? Makes me feel old). I have illustrated a few of the forest animals for everyday cards, so keep your eyes out for those.
