Beauties by Bagatelles & Co.

Good morning friends!
I’m trying to get back into the swing of things and play catch-up since being away from the studio. It is always tricky, but i’m just about done answering emails and planning the weeks of summer and summer weddings.

Thank you to my guest bloggers, Courtney and Tara while i was away for filling in the blanks! I really appreciate it! When i came back, i was catching up on my own blogging and found a sweet blog, and she had posted about some amazing goodies that i just had to share!

How sweet are these? Unique and colorful clutches and purses handmade by Bagatelles & Co. Perfect for a wedding, bridal party gift or just a fabulous party to add some sass to your style!

I’ll take one of each please.

NY Wedding Boutique blog has officially started!

Happy Monday everyone! I am so giddy and excited this morning to share with you the news that the New York Wedding Boutique blog has officially begun. The first couple of entries are to begin the history of where it all began just over a month ago, and the invitations that each person received to join the party. There are so many wonderful ideas that are brewing right now, so stay tuned, leave your love and enjoy the ride!

Start spreading the news..

I sort of feel like i am singing the Yankee Stadium song as i type that! Yup, a big fan here. Anyway, i wasn’t thinking baseball music when i wrote that, i was thinking of Save the Dates! The past few months are always a big time of year for new engagements. After the fun of being engaged settles in, save the dates must go out!

Save the dates can stay traditional or can take a fun turn and play on the couple’s personalities! I really enjoy designing save the dates which allow something fun from the couple’s history together, the venue or just something they love as a way to express the information. Save the dates don’t have to “match” the invites either!

Here is a save the date for a bar mitzvah. The celebration was themed international and so the save the date illustrated that. However, the invitation was really formal with traditional script fonts and engraved lettering.

Here is another save the date that set the tone for the big day for Alexis and David. I hand illustrated the birds and branches which weren’t used in the invitations, but were used in all other aspects of the wedding stationery such as programs, custom coasters, out of town packages and favors.

As soon as you start announcing your engagement, be prepared to answer all sorts of questions such as “When is the big day”, “Where will the wedding be” and “Where will we stay”? All of these questions can be answered on your save the date. Whether it is a calendar style, a postcard style, or inclusive of a photograph – make it you and don’t be afraid to get creative!

Fun with color!

Way back when… i mean way back when right after design school I found this amazing photo share website. Stock.xchng. It used to be a place where photographers of all levels could upload and share their photos. Other uses, like myself could download and use, free of charge. It has changed a bit since Getty purchased it, but still a useful site and still lots of free images from lots of great photographers from all over the world.

I love to browse through and look for fun images for our home or projects where expensive stock just isn’t in the numbers. I found this balloon image and just love it. The colors are so soft, and it makes me smile. Sort of makes me feel like a kid again. Then, i was thinking… what a great image to base a wedding around. Oh boy – here i go again. Planning another style wedding for us again. Dear lord I hope Christopher isn’t reading, he might start to hyperventilate. :-)

I think if i got married again, I would want a short dress like this one! So here is the start of some colors and a dress style. See how it all comes together!

Twinkle toes

Wow! I feel so normal this morning after being so sick last week. It feels great! I started to feel better over the weekend which was nice and so of course, we took down our tree and decorations. It is so sad and the house feels so undecorated now.

As i was putting away my loot, i came across my wedding shoes in my closet. It started to bring back all the wonderful memories of our day. However, there is a story that goes along with my shoes. I’m pretty tall (6’0″ to be exact) so finding the perfect shoe to go along with the perfect dress, the perfect veil and the perfect jewelry was such a chore for me. It almost took the “i love shoes” part out of my body. I didn’t want anything that would make me tower over Christopher, i wanted something dainty, i wanted something simple and i wanted something that wouldn’t necessarily sink into the ground since we were getting married outside. I finally found the most perfect shoes! I couldn’t wait to wear them, and i did. For about one hour. Yes whoever is reading…. one hour. See, it rained on our wedding day. It made for some really fun photos, but it rained. So by the time we made our way back to our venue after some early photography, the grounds were soaked and i didn’t want to ruin the “perfect” shoes. So… my entire bridal party went barefoot into the garden.

This is me and my father walking me down the stairs. Take notice of the bare feet.

:: sigh :: So i ended up changing shoes for the reception and my “perfect” shoes rest dormant in the box, in my closet. Every now and again, i’ll frolic around in them! But… it does make me wonder what i would do if i ever had the chance to re-plan our wedding. I loved every minute of it! Then i got to thinking how fun some of the photos i see are where the bride is totally untraditional with color and style. So i gathered some images to share, and for my own storage. ( you know… just incase Christopher would ever want a “redo” on a non rainy day)!

So there you have it! Some fun and fanciful shoes (and boots) for your wedding day.
